Sr. Analyst Financial Reporting & Compliance

Job Title: Senior Analyst, Financial Reporting & Compliance
Reports To: Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance
Department: Finance and Accounting

Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assist with all quarterly and annual working papers that relate to the Trust’s reporting and compliance requirements, including but not limited to: the consolidated financial statements and note disclosures therein, the management discussion and analysis (MD&A), earnings press releases and investor presentations;
• Assist with the annual preparation of the annual information form (AIF) and management information circular (MIC) including correspondence with the Trust’s legal counsel;
• Assist with the regular maintenance and organization of treasury activities namely share certificates, issuances and distributions;
• Prepare TSX Form 1 outlining the monthly changes in Trust Units and units registered under the Trust’s Deferred Unit Plan;
• Prepare IFRS research memos and keep abreast of changes in accounting policies according to IFRS and REALpac;
• Analyze changes in fair value with respect to the Trust’s investment property portfolio and assist with presentation and reporting to senior management;
• Assist with the regular maintenance and reporting needs of the Trust’s unit-based compensation plans, including the: Deferred Unit Plan, Long Term Incentive Plan and Equity Incentive Plan;
• Assist with the maintenance and accounting of the Trust’s financial instruments;
• Assist with special projects periodically as requested by senior management.

Academic/Professional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in real estate, finance or accounting.
• Professional designation (e.g. CPA, CFA), or an advanced degree in a related field is a must

Required Skills/Experience:

• Minimum of 4-5 years of progressive accounting experience – preferably in an audit or income tax setting with exposure to publicly listed companies;
• Familiarity of IFRS – REALpac experience would be an asset;
• Detail oriented and responsible individual with a proven track record of taking ownership and follow through to ensure all loose ends are resolved;
• Proven organizational and time management skills in dealing with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels within the organization;
• Sound business judgment and numerical skills;
• Computer skills, including advanced Excel, and familiarity with Word and PowerPoint;
• Current experience working in a cloud platform for reporting/compliance (Workiva) would be an asset;
• Market and demographic research and reporting;
