Job Title: Senior Manager, Project Control
Reports To: SVP Construction & Engineering

Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Project Control is responsible for leading project planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and reporting efforts for development and construction projects at SmartCentres REIT. The successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of construction project management, financial oversight, risk management principles, and expertise in data analytics tools such as Power BI and construction software like Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Scheduling
• Work closely with Senior Manager Planning & Scheduling to develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with key milestones and deliverables.
• Monitor critical paths and identify potential delays, proposing mitigation strategies.
• Ensure all stakeholders are informed of schedule updates.
2. Cost Control & Budget Management
• Prepare, manage, and track project budgets in collaboration with the finance team.
• Implement robust cost control measures and report variances to senior leadership.
• Work closely with procurement to align vendor contracts with budget constraints.
3. Document and Data Management
• Oversee the setup and maintenance of document control systems, leveraging Autodesk Construction Cloud for efficient collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and company document standards.
4. Risk Management
• Identify project risks and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans.
• Conduct regular risk reviews and maintain a risk register for all active projects.
5. Stakeholder Coordination
• Act as a liaison between internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
6. Process Improvement
• Continuously evaluate and improve project control processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Train team members on project control practices and tools.
7. Performance Measurement and Reporting
• Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for project success.
• Generate regular progress reports for stakeholders and management.
• Use tools like Earned Value Management (EVM) to assess project performance.
8. Reporting and Analytics
• Use Power BI to design and maintain interactive dashboards, providing insights into project performance, budgets, and KPIs.
• Develop regular and ad hoc reports to communicate project status, risks, and variances to stakeholders.
• Analyze data to identify trends, predict outcomes, and support decision-making.
Academic/Professional Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. PMP or equivalent certification is an asset.
Required Skills/Experience:
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in project controls, construction project management, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, real estate development, and project lifecycle management.
• Experience with software such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (Document Control, Build, Cost Management).
• Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint and Power BI
• Advanced knowledge of project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Proficiency in cost management and financial forecasting.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
