Job Title: Manager, Taxation
Reports To: Director, Financial Reporting & Compliance
Department: Corporate Accounting

Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate and review all quarterly and annual working papers that relate to the REIT’s reporting and compliance
requirements, including but not limited to: the consolidated financial statements and note disclosures therein, the
management discussion and analysis (MD&A), and the specified investment flow-through (SIFT) trust model (to
ensure the Trust is compliant with its REIT income tax exemption status);
• Assist with the preparation and review of the legal entity financial statements for each of the Trust’s underlying
subsidiaries that support the year end tax filings (T2, T3 and T5013)
• Work closely with all stakeholders within the organization to ensure the accounting records for legal entities are
complete and accurate, and proactively identify and analyze accounting transactions that may have an impact on the
REIT’s income tax filings;
• Liaise with the REIT’s income tax advisors and identify process improvement opportunities;
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the REIT’s third-party partners as it relates to joint-income
tax filings and analyses;
• Assist management with any CRA requests or audits which may occur from time to time;
• Assist with re-capitalization of certain partnerships, including equity contributions, for income tax purposes;
• Assist with the regular maintenance and organization of treasury activities namely share certificates, issuances and
distributions;
• Assist with special projects periodically as requested by senior management.

Academic/Professional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance
• CPA designation is preferred

Required Skills/Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience – preferably in an audit or income tax setting with
exposure to publicly listed companies;
• Familiarity of IFRS – REALpac and Taxprep experience would be an asset;
• Detail oriented and responsible individual with a proven track record of taking ownership and follow through to ensure
all loose ends are resolved;
• Proven organizational and time management skills in dealing with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
• People manager experience would be an asset, as the candidate would be required to manage a team, assist with
fostering a team-oriented working culture, and provide mentorship to junior team members
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels within the
organization;
• Sound business judgment and numerical skills;
• Computer skills, including advanced Excel, and familiarity with Word and PowerPoint;
